No. The AI Coach is entirely optional. You can use all other features of First Steps (milestone tracking, photo memories, Wonder Weeks leaps, bonding activities, and reminders) without ever enabling the AI Coach.
Before you can use the AI Coach, you must provide explicit consent within the app. You will see a detailed disclosure screen that explains exactly what data is shared with OpenAI and why. You can decline this consent and still use the app normally.
