Privacy Policy

First Steps is a parenting guide app that helps you track child milestones, save memories (photos + diary), and chat with an AI Coach. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.

Depending on features you use, you may provide:

• Account info: Sign in with Apple identifier (and email if you choose to share it)
• Child profile info: Child name/nickname, date of birth, milestones, notes
• Memories & diary: Photos, captions, diary entries you create
• AI Coach chats: Messages you send and the responses you receive

We use Supabase to store and sync your app data, including:

• Child profile data
• Milestones
• Diary entries
• Photos you upload to Memories

When you use the AI Coach, your messages are processed by OpenAI to generate replies.

• AI Coach messages you send may contain personal information you choose to share.
• You should avoid including extremely sensitive details you don't want processed (e.g., highly private identifiers).

We may collect limited technical information to keep the app running reliably:

• Device and app diagnostics (crash logs, performance data)
• Basic usage events needed to operate and improve the app

We use information to:

• Provide features (milestones, memories, syncing)
• Personalize parenting guidance based on child age and app usage
• Provide AI Coach responses
• Maintain security and prevent abuse
• Support subscriptions (e.g., restore purchases)

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data only with:

• Supabase — to host and sync your data, including photo storage
• OpenAI — to generate AI Coach responses from your chat messages
• Apple — for subscription purchase processing

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect safety/security.

We keep your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete content in the app. You can also delete your account (see below).

You can request deletion of your account and associated data:

• In-app: Settings → Account → Delete Account
• Or by email: privacy@firststeps.app (from your account email)

Deletion removes your stored child profiles, milestones, diary entries, and uploaded photos from our active systems, except where retention is required for legal/security purposes.

First Steps is intended for parents/guardians. Children should not create accounts. Any child information is provided by the parent/guardian for tracking and journaling.

You can:

• Edit/delete diary entries and photos
• Remove child profiles
• Delete your account
• Control device permissions (photos/notifications)
